U.P. Concrete Pipe Company is a distributor of East Jordan street castings and hatch assemblies for manholes and catch basins, tree grates, detectable warning plates and other miscellaneous items.

Construction & Municipal Castings

East Jordan construction & municipal castings can be found throughout the U.P. of Michigan. These construction & municipal castings are manufactured for light, medium, heavy and extra heavy duty designations. The most widely accepted criteria for highway traffic loading is AASHTO’s “Standard Specifications for Highway Bridges” which define H-20 and HS-20 loading. All castings designated as heavy duty meet or exceed these loading criteria.

Tree Grates

Durable, functional and architecturally appealing, these cast iron tree grates are necessary for healthy trees in various urban, campus, parks and indoor mall settings. Cast Iron Tree Grates provide more area for pedestrian activity while protecting developing trees and their root system. The slotted design allows for watering and drainage and in most cases are ADA compliant for pedestrian safety. The narrow slot of an ADA grate also prohibits litter from collecting in the tree well and minimizes the growth of weeds.

Detectable Warning Grates

These plates are made from durable cast iron designed to withstand rigorous urban conditions. Cast iron is inherently resistant to corrosion from elements, lasting for many years without further maintenance. Plates are cast with a slip resistant surface and the natural iron visually contrasts with the adjoining walkway.

Ductile Iron Pipe

If your project requires ductile iron pipe, U.P. Concrete Pipe Company stocks several hundred feet of U.S. Pipe & Foundry’s Tyton Joint pipe in 4” through 12” diameter in CL350, CL52 and CL54. Tyton Joint pipe is quick and easy to install and has high pressure capabilities. Other sizes and/or classes of pipe are available as well. We can have it in stock or delivered to your jobsite in just a few days.

Fittings

U.P. Concrete Pipe Company handles both domestic and foreign AWWA approved compact mechanical joint fittings, flanged fittings, fabricated spool pieces – both flanged and plain end, wedge action restraints for ductile iron & PVC pipe, and other accessories including mechanical joint glands & gaskets, transition gaskets, T-bolts & nuts, and flange gaskets & accessories.

Valves

Are you looking for resilient wedge gate valves in mechanical joint, flanged or tapping configurations? U.P. Concrete Pipe Company has what you need. We stock 4” thru 12” in these configurations, have them in open left & open right operation, all conforming to AWWA C515 requirements. Do you have a need for butterfly valves, plug valves or check valves? If so, we can get them for you as well.

Hydrants

U.P. Concrete Pipe Company stocks fire hydrants which meet or exceed AWWA C502 “Standard for Dry-Barrel Fire Hydrants” and are designed for 250 psi working pressures. They also meet “traffic model” design with replaceable parts designed to break away without water loss or damage to other parts of the hydrant. These hydrants are in stock and available in several different configurations to meet specifications for most cities throughout the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

Miscellaneous Items

We carry a large supply of valve boxes, valve box adaptors, adjustable valve box tops and valve box adjusting rings. In addition, U.P. Concrete Pipe Company also stocks stainless steel tapping sleeves and repair clamps, copper tubing, service saddles, corporation stops, curb stops, unions, curb boxes, and buffalo boxes.

U.P. Concrete Pipe Company supplies a variety of corrugated steel pipe products and accessories. The corrugated steel pipe is available in 2-2/3″ x 1/2″ and 3″ x 1″ corrugations in galvanized, aluminized type II and polymer coated steel. We have a wide variety of sizes and gauges ranging from 6″ diameter through 144″ diameter and 18 gauge to 8 gauge material.

U.P. Concrete Pipe Company also supplies accessories for steel pipe and arch pipe including annular bands, dimple bands, steel end sections, and safety sloped end sections for both steel pipe and reinforced concrete pipe (adaptor required).

PVC Pipe

U.P. Concrete Pipe Company handles PVC (poly vinyl chloride) pipe and stocks several thousand feet of it at any given time. Our inventory includes the following:

PVC Fittings

We also stock thousands of molded and fabricated PVC fittings in sizes from 4” through 24″ for almost any application you might require. These fittings include gasketed SDR35 sewer fittings, gasketed SDR26 heavy wall sewer fittings, and solvent weld SCH40 fittings.

U.P. Concrete Pipe Company supplies a variety of HDPE pipe available in dual wall with soil tight or water tight joints in 6″ thru 36″ diameter. We also have 4” and 6″edge drain meeting MDOT specs.

Accessories are also available for HDPE pipe including split couplings, tees, elbows, end caps and end sections. Safety sloped end sections are also available and can be attached to the pipe with the use of a tapered steel adaptor.

There’s certainly an advantage when purchasing your geo-synthetics through U.P. Concrete Pipe Company. We stock a large inventory of Michigan DOT approved fabrics and silt fence, provide convenient jobsite delivery via our fleet of tractors and trailers, and have the ability to supply our customers with custom fabrication in a short period of time.

Geotextiles offer an effective option when compared to the use of natural materials. These options can translate to savings at your jobsite. These geotextiles can be used in several applications including material seperation, drainage, filtration and soil reinforcement on projects such as roads, landfills and parking lots.

Geogrids can be used to reinforce slopes, walls and base layers. They reduce the need for more conventional designs like gradual slopes. When fill is placed on the geogrids, its design locks the soil into place, providing stability. These geogrids are generally used on embankments and other sloped areas for road construction, for pavement reinforcement in parking lots and roadways, and for bank reinforcement for ponds or other waterway areas.

Silt fence is used on residential and commercial sites where sediment control is required. Our silt fence is 3′ high x 100′ long, has 1-1/2″ square hardwood stakes spaced at 6′, and meets current Michigan DOT specifications.

In addition to the items mentioned above, U.P. Concrete Pipe Company can also provide you with other related products such as geomembrane liners & covers which can be used for contaiment of hazardous materials at landfills, or used as a pond liner. Plastic fencing is also available in different configurations and is used as a barrier for safety or for snow drift control.
