U.P. Concrete Pipe Company specializes in the manufacturing of the Earth Lock® Engineered Retaining Wall System. Earth Lock incorporates a proven technology developed in Germany, providing nearly endless configurations and finishes for residential, commercial and industrial applications.
Earth Lock’s design allows for easy installation. It functions as a monolithic wall once installation is complete. Its very configuration gives Earth Lock® its structural integrity, eliminating the disadvantages of site built retaining wall systems. “Structure, Strength & Longevity…Comes Delivered on Our Trucks” with the Earth Lock® L-Wall System.
Horizontal production methods are used at U.P. Concrete Pipe Company to create almost pore-free, perfectly smooth surfaces with chamfered edges, setting a new quality standard for non-textured designs. Achieve both architectural beauty and cost effectiveness at your site with the use of Earth Lock®. With the help of form liners, Earth Lock® L-Walls can provide literally any surface design.
As with the Founders Landing project in Marquette, Michigan pictured above and below, these designs can be stained, giving the appearance of a multi-colored natural stone built wall. Surface possibilities are almost limitless when form liners and staining are combined.Different color pigments can be added to the redi-mix before placement into forms for finishing and cutting.
Whether the finished wall is plain, colored, or stained, engraving allows etching of your company logo, or even a mural, into the surface of the wall panel(s).
When it rains, stormwater can carry pollutants to our natural water resources from parking lots, roadways and other surface areas. U.P. Concrete Pipe Co. offers a range of manhole treatment systems that can effectively remove these stormwater pollutants. These manholes are designed for ease of installation and maintenance.
Inlet Treatment Manholes are standard for most stormwater treatment applications and are the most popular in use today.
Inline Treatment Manholes direct stormwater into the structure by means of a grated inlet and are ideal for loading bays and small parking lots. They can also be used for a direction change in the line, eliminating the need for an additional structure.
Our stormwater treatment manholes can also be used in parallel to treat larger areas, and can also be designed for use in high groundwater table applications.
Upper Peninsula Concrete Pipe Company offers several different precast configurations for your underground stormwater detention system including reinforced concrete pipe, elliptical concrete pipe and box culverts. Con Span Bridges and our small 3 – Sided Bridges can also be used in applications where water percolation is desired.
Precast underground stormwater detention systems have several advantages when compared to open water detention ponds. Greater value with no loss of parking space on site when compared to the area required for a detention pond. Much safer when compared to detention ponds which pose a drowning hazard as well as other safety concerns. Aging detention ponds likely have weeds and other debris, appear unsightly, and attract mosquitoes and other pests.
Maintenance costs of detention ponds can be considerable when compared to the simpler maintenance required for precast underground detention. Please contact U.P. Concrete Pipe Company’s staff regarding additional information on precast stormwater treatment manholes or stormwater detention systems.
U.P. Concrete Pipe Company manufactures temporary concrete median barriers meeting the Michigan DOT standard “Indiana Spec” and NCHRP 350 crashworthy criteria. These barriers are used for safety to separate traffic traveling in opposite directions, traffic traveling in the same direction, and to redirect errant vehicles. These temporary concrete barriers may be used as a median barrier in certain situations, or may be used to protect traffic from a temporary construction hazard such as road or bridge repairs.
Barriers can also be manufactured less the connecting cables and attachment pins when other specifications indicate, if attachment isn’t required, or when a single placement is desired.
Standard precast parking curbs (bumpers or stops) are manufactured at U.P. Concrete Pipe Company in 6” high x 10” wide x 8′ lengths. 3 holes are placed in the curb to accommodate ½” rebar which can be inserted into and through the curb for anchoring to asphalt or concrete surfaces. U.P. Concrete Pipe Company can also manufacture parking curbs conforming to MDOT III-74D specifications if required.
Precast boat launch planks are manufactured according to specific project design specifications and can vary in length, width, thickness and structural steel content as required. The planks include lifting points used to handle and position them and can also include attachment loops to help join them together once placed at the site.
U.P. Concrete Pipe Company has block available to build 24” catch basins and sumps as well as 48”, 60”, 72” and 96” inside diameter manhole structures. Catch basin block is typically used to finish 24” precast sumps to within a foot of finished grade before placing concrete adjusting rings and a street casting. Manhole block is used when a particular structure is too shallow to precast, or when too many inlet & outlet openings are required for a precast structure to be built. Brick can be used to adjust a casting to finished grade, or help fill in around inlet & outlet pipes in block structures before grouting.
U.P. Concrete Pipe Company manufactures concrete adjusting rings (grade rings) designed to make adjustments for finished grade. This is accomplished by placing the adjusting rings between the 24” block, manhole cone, or flat top cover and the street casting. When manholes or catch basins are installed in roadways, designers frequently specify a stack of adjusting rings 6 to 8 inches high to allow for easy grade adjustment if required for future construction.
Available sizes for precast concrete adjusting rings include 24” x 36” id/od, 27” x 37” id/od or 26” x 38” id/od and are available in 2”, 3” and 4” thicknesses.
U.P. Concrete Pipe Company has the ability to manufacture other precast concrete products which include, but are not limited to items such as wall caps, sill plates, window headers and chimney caps. Please contact us to discuss all the possibilities.
